The reduction of self to the suffering object, sometimes with the goal of enhancing (especially moral) credibility in a peer group.
It’s a pathology. You get shat on enough, wearing shit on your head becomes a claim to identity.
People that know me well consider me to be a reticent person. But really I am determined to be more than the sum of my history. I try to learn from my own history, apply, rinse and repeat.
